Catherine’s Eulogy

Created by Graeme one year ago
Hello, my name is Catherine and I had the pleasure of knowing Katherine and being friends with her for twenty years of our lives. She felt like a sister to me. We met at nursery and I loved our times together through primary school at Bishop Perrin, secondary school at Waldegrave and college at Esher. Although we then chose different places for university, the friendship that we made was one we both knew would last forever.
Katherine had such a kind and generous heart full of love and laughter. She was happy, smiley and would always be there for you whenever you needed her. She was always there for a hug or a cup of tea and although she would say I drank milky water with some tea flavouring, she would always be there to sit down with a cuppa and have a DMC (or a deep meaningful chat to us). She always made me laugh, had the best advice and her caring nature always shone through. One of the best things about our friendship was that no matter how long it had been since we saw each other, whenever we did it felt like no time at all and we were just back to being us.
Throughout our time together we have had many great memories but the things I will remember most is all the little things. The things that may not seem like much, but to us were fun and happy. These were the memories that we spent so much time making and then laughing or talking about. And to me, this is how I will remember her.
There are all the sleepovers that we had, staying up late chatting with some cheesy movie that both of us loved watching. The walks around the block having all the conversations about our lives and our experiences growing up. The way she would meticulously wrap a present for you in so much sellotape that you struggled to open it. The way we would reminisce about old times. Or just sitting at the bench at the end of the road, watching the world go by. I am sure our parents probably wondered how we still had things to talk about after all these years, but I think that is the sign of true friendship. It was therefore very convenient having a best friend only a two minute walk away!
We also would always just love playing with her dog Megan who would always greet me with a sock from the radiator or a shoe. Often Neetu and I would try and find out who Megan loved best out of the three of us, but unsurprisingly Katherine always won!
Something else I have to mention about Katherine is her baking skills. It was very often that I would turn up to find some amazing cake in the oven. I loved her sending me pictures of her creations and I am sure many of you here have eaten her delicious bakes!

And of course I cannot miss out the triangle. One of the best ideas I ever had (although probably not completely my idea) was to go to Bournemouth with Katherine and Neetu one summer. They were both my best friends but the two of them didn’t really know each other. How that changed. A few days away together and our three way friendship, aka the triangle, was born! We were the best of friends and we have been alternating whose house we are having a catch up in ever since. We were always there for one another, always there for a hug and always there to spend hours chatting, laughing and making memories.
I have been through a lot with Katherine. We have shared the laughs and we have been there for each other through the tears. Her friendship is something that I have always treasured.
I have spent all of my life that I can remember with her as a prominent part of it and she was a light that shone brightly and lit up my world. She is like family and she will always have a special place in my heart.
I love you Katherine and I will miss you.
